Actually the large company has their own generic competitive strategies. For example MYDIN, Air Asia, DELL, McDonalds in category of  cost leadership strategy. Thanks Allah

This week I learnt "Evaluating A Company’s Resources, Capabilities, And Competitiveness".  This topic is about how certain strategy works in a company. A different companies have different resources and capabilities in managing their business. A resources and capabilities is the most important thing to determine the company’s performance.

In this chapter, I learnt SWOT analysis. In managing a company, we should know our business strengths, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. TOWS use to evaluate more than that.

SWOT Analysis

During the tutorial class, we need to make a presentation about our restaurant that we want to open. So, my groups decided to open a dining restaurant that sells seafood dishes. Our restaurant’s name D’Mermaid Restaurant.

Muslimah Mermaid

It’s located at Giant Nilai adjoin Nando’s restaurant. It based on sea concept. We choose this concept because we see Nilai is a busy area. So the customer who want feel relax, can come to our restaurant.

Sea Concept

Actually we need to consider more factors when open a business. We need to consider not only external factors but also internal factors. After the presentation, Madam Huda make some correction about our presentation. She gives her opinion that seafood dishes no need to make delivery even though nearby area because it taste will be different. Thanks madam for the correction.

In conclusion, I’m really enjoyed learnt this subject for this week with my two beloved lecturer. I think I need to enhance my knowledge. That’s all for this  entry. See you in the next entry.

Apart from that, to see how strong are the industry’s competitive forces, we can use tool of the Five Competitive Forces.

The Five Competitive Forces

In the tutorial class, we discussed an article that related with business. After that, we discussed about Robin Hood case. Madam Huda teach us how to answer case study question with easy way. She divides into several categories that are key issues, key decision to be made, analysis, stakeholder, alternatives, implementation plan, decision and criteria.

The next tutorial, madam Huda promise will teach us using SWOT analysis. Actually not easy to be a successful businessman or an entrepreneur but it’s not impossible. Right? Not easy as on television to manage an organization. A manager need to know a lot of knowledge how to manage it. I think that’s all. See you again in the next entry.

INTRODUCTION FOR STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT SUBJECT

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful….

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Alhamdulillah, still life in the earth today. Thanks Allah. But need to manage time properly and efficiently.

The topic that I learnt in the lecture today is "The Nature of Strategic Management" and "The Business Vision and Mission". These topics I can classified as a introduction for this subject. So, no problem to understand these topics today. Alhamdulillah.

Strategic management is the art and science of formulating, implementing, and evaluating cross-functional decisions that enable an organization to achieve its objectives.

Usually, Strategic management is used synonymous with the term strategic planning. A Strategic Plan is company’s game plan. It’s results from tough managerial choices among numerous good alternatives, and it signals commitment to specific markets, policies, procedures, and operations. There are three stages of Strategic Management :

The second topic is about the business vision and mission.

When someone want to run a business, he needs to put a vision and mission of business first. It because it will determine our business in the future and it be a benchmark for an organization. So when we have vision and mission, it will be easy for us to achieve it.

This second week is my first tutorial class. Firstly I want introduce my tutor. Her name is Siti Nurulhuda Nordin. So, we called her madam Huda. I'm proud of her because she has many experience like miss Ummi. In the class, I learnt about Strategic Management. What’s interesting after the class I gain some knowledge.

Have you been shopping? Almost of you will answer YES right? Where your choose to shopping? TECSO? GIANT? MYDIN? JUSCO? Or others? Now I want talk about strategic management in TESCO.

TESCO Hypermarket

What do you look first the product at the entrance?  Milo? Maggi? Nescafe? Every month the product at the entrance will be change.

Entrance TESCO

From the picture above, we can see the product be at the entrance is Pampers (if I not mistaken). It’s mean the Pampers company pay high to TESCO.

Arrangement products play an important role

A products on the shelves in the upper and lower pay cheaper than products in the middle. The higher company pay to TESCO, your product will be at strategic place.

TESCO Flyers

The cost of flyers that you get from TESCO actually incurred by owner of product. It requires a large of capital to enter in TESCO hypermarket. That’s why SME product rare in TESCO.

Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd

But it differences with MYDIN. What’s the differences?

Think about it first!

I think that’s  all for this entry. Really enjoy in the class. See you again.
