LAST ENTRY, I GUESS...

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

This week, I come late to the lecture around 15 minutes. I'm fortunate because tagged machine not function that day. Fuhh…That’s time my lecturer gave Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Self Worksheet to test our personality.

Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Self

The result for myself is ESFP.

ESFP Criteria

For the lecture today, I learnt two topics that are "Building an Organization Capable of Good Strategy Execution" and "Managing Internal Operations" which is last topic from the book. During the lecture, Miss Ummi show the video about motivation and rewards. For me,it's funny and interesting video.

This week, we do not have tutorial class because we have online forum. We need to share our opinion about motivation and rewards.

This is my opinion regarding the question.

This post will be the last post for this semester, I guess. This is because this individual assignment of updating blog must be submitted to Miss Ummi by 8th December 2013.

I hope that my individual assignment meets the criteria of getting good score. As I mention in first entry, I hope I can get A for this subject and passed the examination with flying colors and also can apply what I have learnt in my life. For me, this subject is one of the killer subject. Only leave two weeks the lecture. May Allah ease everything.

Not forget, a big thanks I wish to my beloved lecturers Miss Ummi Salwa Ahmad Bustaman and Madam Siti Nurulhuda Nordin for always doing everything. Both of you were very nice to help me and very patient when I didn't really understand how to make them look right. I hope I have more amazing lecturer like you.

Thanks for reading!

AGE 19, BE 5 TOP THE BILLIONAIRES?

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

As usual the same day, same time, same place, same lecturer, same subject. But the unusual is I did not come the lecture for the first time because …….hehe… (secret). Even I do not come the lecture I know the topic that discussed today is “ Corporate Strategy” . I was informed by my friend that the
next week there would not be any face-to-face meeting... Haaishhh..  If the news about no class  spread faster. Hehe..

During the tutorial class, we have discuss the case study of “Piping hot dogs : a case of Malaysia franchise”. I just know that the best way to cook the hot dogs is grilled. . That’s why when we fried the hot dogs it will be shrink. Madam Huda told that staple food for Malaysians now is Maggi not rice mainly students. There are cases in which a stewardess was found dead in the house without being noticed by anyone. After police made postmortem, there was like a candle in the body. Police investigation revealed that there are many Maggi found in her shelf. Morning, noon, night she ate the Maggi. She told that do not eat frequently.

In this case, we discuss about demand condition which are involve buyer taste, growth rate and home market. Apart from that, we also discuss factor condition , related and supported industry, firm strategy, and also rivalry. For this company, the make hot dogs so the related and supported industry like cooking oil, potatoes and others. When talk about potatoes, Madam Huda story to us about their experiences eating potatoes. While she was in secondary school, she outing with her friends and they eat at KFC, Johor Baru. When they want to eat potato they meet coackroach wing and leg in the potatoes. After that, they meet the manager and threaten will report in the media. That's time no tribunal for consumer claims. So brave! To cover offenses, the manager offer KFC voucher for six months. So they accept or not the offer??JengJengJeng..................................................................................... They take the voucher but the eat at other KFC Restaurant.

During this tutorial class I know that's why the tagline, logo, colour is always changing. Actually they wanted people to remember their company. Colour plays important role although sometime it seen trivial. Nearly all fast food restaurants use red and yellow as their core logo colours because this combination stimulates appetite. Why they not use green colour? They have their reason. If you want know the reason you can ask uncle google. Hehe.. I forget the answer. More invest in advertising if the product less known. On op of that, Madam huda encourage us to watch the video "5 top secret, the billionaires". Let me share the synopsis of the video.

Firstly, what are you doing at his age? Age 16, TOP gained 400,000 Baht monthly from playing online games. Age 17, He was willing to fail school and instead earned money from selling chestnuts for 2,000 baht. Age 18, His family went bankrupt and remained 40 million Baht in debt. Age 19, He released Tao Kae Noi seaweed to more than 3,000 branches at 7-Eleven. At this present, Top is a 26-year-old businessman, the owner of the bestselling seaweed in Thailand. He owns 85 percent of the market share which is equivalent to 800 million Baht a year, and has 2,000 employees in his company. The Billionaire will let you get to know Top Ittipat in details about how he turned himself from an online game addict whom always got disparaged by teachers, to a famous young billionaire.

How did he raise himself up to this position? Surely, everyone desires to get rich, yet not everyone dares to succeed like him. Find the answers that have made Top become a billionaire, while you still can. Think about it. So for the next week tutorial,we will discuss the case study of UMW Holdings. I think that's all. See you for the next entry.

SHARING MOMENT WITH O-SHIMA JAPANESE RESTAURANT

In the name of Allah the Most  Gracious and the Most Merciful

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Ya Allah, today I woke up. I am alive. I am healthy. Alhamdulillah.
Tuesday, 12 November 2013.  A special lecture today. Do you know why? Because…… We have a sharing session during the lecture hour with the founder of O-SHIMA JAPANESE RESTAURANT, Madam  Asnidar Hanim Yusuf, the one and only 100% HALAL Japanese Restaurant in Malaysia.

O-SHIMA JAPANESE RESTAURANT

So, how was the sharing session? By the way, let’s me share here, “What have I learned today?”

I have gained many valuable inputs during the session. Before that I want to say that I’m very proud and salute Madam Asnidar because she can run a business even she is engineering student. How engineering student can start-up the restaurant? The key is “always be positive and we need to motivate all the time”.

A challenges and obstacles are common thing that will face an entrepreneur during run a business. A major problem in any business is Human Resources such as difficulty in finding workers, difficulty to find trustworthy workers, difficulty in handle people problem because of different background and so on.

During run a business, Madam Asnidar face a problem to get Halal Certification from JAKIM. On top of that, she also face a problem of financial. I really like the quotes when she say that "do not do something for money, do for ikhlas for Allah, whatever we do it must be ikhlas for Allah and the money will come later". A person who want be an entrepreneur must have a common strategy to succeed. Apart from that, they must have a good location and increase brand awareness. In addition they need to retain current customer. The important things is have a passion in your own business, don’t just copy.

I really love this quote that she mentioned during the session that “it’s not always bad to fail, the most important thing is how you bounce back after the failure”. Everyone has came across failure not only in business. But remember that FAILURE can MOTIVATE someone to not make the mistake again in the future. So, just be positive and insyallah there will be light at the end of the tunnel.. It’s ok to face failure but how to face and overcome it is more important than just sitting and cry over the failure. Do you agree with me?

As a conclusion, Allah knows your difficulty. You must also know that Allah would never put you in a situation you couldn’t handle it. Allah knows you’re smart enough to think how to improve yourself and make it more better than before except if you give up early, so no one can help you. What the important thing, never think negative and put trust to Allah that Allah will help you in whatever situation. Thanks a lot Madam Asnidar for the sharing valuable inputs.

 Madam  Asnidar Hanim Yusuf

IS IT ME?

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful….

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Hoorayy! Hooray! Midsem break will arrive this weekend! But...... I’m sad because I lack of my budget so, I cannot return  my sweet home, Terengganu. Two weeks ago, I have just returned my home for Eid Adha.

So, I decided to spend my holidays in Malacca, my brother home with his daughter. Not forget a lot of assignment will accompany me. Huhu… I need rewrite and update my blog because my lecturer said that half of her students write notes in the blog.  Is it me? ^-^

This week, I learnt about "Strategies For Competing In Internal Market". In this topic, we can know why companies decide to enter foreign markets. There are five major reasons that are to gain access to new customers, to achieve lower costs through economies of scale, experiences, and increased purchasing power, to further exploit its core competencies, to gain access to resources and capabilities located in foreign market and to spread its business risks across a wider market base.

Apart from that, the owners should consider other factor to enter foreign market such as tax rates, inflation rates, different government policies, differences in buyer tastes and preferences and etc. Owners can choose an option for entering and competing in internal markets whether through export strategies, licensing strategies, franchising strategies, foreign subsidiary strategies or alliance and joint venture strategies. In competing internationally, there are three main strategic approaches that are used. First is Multidomestic Strategy- Think Local, Act Local. Second is Global Strategy- Think Global, Act Global and third is Transnational Strategy- Think Global, Act local.

During the tutorial class, we continue discusses the case study of Digital Age: Shall I tag along? We use the method of SWOT and TOWS analysis. After midsemester break, Madam Huda will continue new case study: Piping hot dogs. Actually I absent the tutorial class because my health in not good condition. So I get the information from my friend.

In conclusion, I need to cover the topic that I lag and be more prepared before the class.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED DURING TUTORIAL CLASS?

In the name of Allah the most Gracious and the most Merciful

Assalamualaikum w.b.t ………..

Last week no lecture because last week is Eid al Adha. So happy because I can gathered together with my beloved family. For this Eid-Adha, I little busy because my family decide to make ceremonies : kenduri tahlil and kenduri aqiqah. Actually I little help work in the kitchen. Not because I’m lazy but I need to be a babysitter. I need to take care around ten of my niece and nephew. After the ceremony, I rushed to bus station because my bus will move around 5.30 p.m. So tired when a bus that promise  arrive at 7.00 p.m. Normal if it is charter bus!

As usual, this week’s lecture I learnt about "Strengthening A Company’s Competitive Position". In this topic I learnt how to strengthen a company’s competitive position. There are several strategies that can be implemented that are blue ocean strategy, horizontal merger, acquisition strategy, vertical integration, offensive strategy, defensive strategy and outsourcing strategy.

The case study for this week is  The Digital Age : Shall I tag along? Interesting right the name of case study ? Actually this case written by four writer. Three of them are my lecturer ~ Dr Ummi Salwa Ahmad Bustamam, Madam Siti Nurulhuda Nordin and Mr Mahdhir Abdullah. This case study is about Mr Rahim, the founder of Ambang Mata Sdn Bhd faced a problem with the existence of internet technology and e-marketing in the era of information and communication technology (ICT) offered opportunities and had affected the retailing marketing process and strategy. Nowadays, people are going to reading online. So Mr Rahim facing the problem of getting same par with other company which is has stated doing online publishing.

During the class, we discussed on two strategies that are Blue Ocean  strategy and the Five Generic Competitive Strategy. A blue-ocean strategy offers growth in revenues and profits by discovering or inventing new industry segments that create altogether new demand. The Porter’s Five forces includes threats o new entrants, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of sellers, threats of rival sellers and threat of new substitutes. My friends suggested that Ambang Mata Sdn Bhd should provide reading material that include Braille. Besides that, the Ambang Mata Sdn Bhd should create their own application which can be download by users through Google Play store. Apart from that, the company can put educational games in the tab so that the children can learn from there.

As a conclusion I need to be more prepare because I don’t want same things occurred. What is it? Let it be a secret..hehe.. When someone angry us, it’s because she love us. Right?  Think positive..Take a good as a guidance and  throw a bad as a border. Reflect yourself. I think that’s all.
